CareerBuilder.com has been used by various organizations and staffing agencies for a range of purposes. One staffing agency owner utilized the platform to find talent for their clients, but unfortunately did not receive the expected number of applicants. Similarly, a different company aimed to increase their application flow and find employees for office positions, but faced challenges in achieving their recruitment goals. However, CareerBuilder.com was also used by hiring departments and recruiting teams to advertise open positions and attract potential candidates. It has been employed across organizations as a versatile tool for employment advertising, job posting, and creating talent networks for passive candidates. In addition, CareerBuilder.com has proven beneficial in sourcing potential candidates that are not found in other major job databases, providing valuable additional options for recruiters. While some users have reported drawbacks such as resume quality and unresponsive account management, others have found value in using CareerBuilder.com to gather market data for compensation expectations and candidate availability. Overall, the platform has been utilized by diverse users for resume sourcing throughout the United States and has played a strategic role in reaching out to potential hires for hard-to-fill positions. Despite mixed experiences with the platform's effectiveness in delivering qualified candidates, it has provided an additional resource for locating talent.

Easy Candidate Search: Many users have found the candidate search system to be easy to use, suggesting that it has a user-friendly interface and intuitive navigation. They appreciate how it simplifies the process of finding potential candidates by providing a seamless experience with clear instructions and straightforward steps.

Wide Reach of Candidates: Several reviewers mentioned that the system allows them to access a wide range of candidates across the USA, indicating its extensive reach. This broad coverage increases the chances of finding suitable candidates from various locations, which is especially valuable for companies with multiple branches or remote work opportunities.

Efficient Resume Search Tool: The resume search tool was highly appreciated by users for its efficiency in filtering and finding relevant resumes. It streamlines the recruitment process by allowing recruiters to easily narrow down their search based on specific criteria such as skills, experience, and qualifications. This saves time and effort in reviewing an overwhelming number of resumes manually.

Cons: Service Issues: Some users have reported experiencing issues with the company's services not being rendered. They have repeatedly requested that these issues be addressed and fixed to ensure a smoother user experience. Unhelpful Customer Service: Users have expressed dissatisfaction with the unhelpful and non-responsive nature of the customer service provided by the company. They often struggle to receive timely assistance and resolution for their concerns, leading to frustration and inconvenience. Difficulty in Navigating: The user experience with the company's services has consistently been described as awful due to its challenging and confusing navigation. Users find it difficult to navigate through the platform, hindering their ability to effectively utilize its features and impacting overall satisfaction.

Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

We utilize their system in order to locate quality/qualified candidates.
  • Candidate search
  • Customer service
  • Onboarding new clients
  • Managing expectations
  • Correcting issues
  • Obtaining candidates for certain jobs which was promised and not delivered upon
  • Escalation issues to management with no response consistently over 5 months
My company invested in CareerBuilder.com to obtain qualified candidates. We also use another platform that will remain unnamed. I would place similar jobs on both sites and obtain a lot of candidates on the one and none (zero) on CareerBuilder.com. I would consistently reach out to my rep asking for help and clarification. He was actually great (the only good part of my time with them) and would connect me with others that "could" help. The truth is, in my experience, most were rude to me. I would screen share and show the other system that was obtaining candidates versus their zero, and, in my experience, they would tell me that in order to get more people, I would need to move all jobs to them. I would explain that I couldn't do that when I couldn't even obtain a few candidates in their system it would be bad for my business. I had to escalate to a manager who I've been speaking with for a resolution since March 2022, and in my experience, there's no response unless I threatened the company. In my experience, they didn't train us when onboarding. In my opinion, they never cared about their lack of production and I'm over it and wish to make sure others are aware.

In my opinion, CareerBuilder.com was once a strong job board, but it is no longer. We contracted for a three-month integration that took one month for them to figure out how to make happen, yet they began charging us on day one. The resumes we received from them were not up to standard. We received thousands of resumes that were out of date, from out of the country, and unrelated to our jobs' qualifications. We found ourselves having to block the flow of what CareerBuilder.com was sending us. I tried diligently to work with our account manager but he ultimately ignored us. I escalated through management to legal only to be ignored by them too. If you're looking for a job board with a strong service mentality and good/active candidates I recommend you go elsewhere (ZipRecruiter or Indeed).
I feel there is nothing positive about this company.

Used for resume sourcing in the recruiting department. The entire department was using it to find candidates throughout the United States.
  • You can search degrees
  • You can choose industries
  • Have a lot of entry level candidates
  • Job postings are not worth it, no ROI compared to other sites
  • Too expensive for what they offer
  • Customer service is poor, you never know who your rep is because it changes frequently
Good for entry level but not for more specialized areas. Not worth the cost.

It is used to place ads for open positions we need to fill on a permanent and/or temporary full and/or part time basis. Just the hiring department uses the site and each office has two hiring managers. It assist[s in] getting the word out about open positions in the community.
  • Gets the word out about open positions.
  • It is an easy tool to get resumes in.
  • It offers a resume search tool.
  • The match up could be stronger.
The only issue is [the same as] all employment sites [where] some people unfitting for positions get their resumes through to you anyway. And although it is a waste of your time, it is still worth using the site to get the good ones. Many more worthy candidates come through than unworthy [ones].

CareerBuilder.com is being used across the whole organization. The company uses it for employment advertising and to post jobs. It also has a talent network feature where candidates that are passively looking at your job postings can apply at a later date when the right opportunity is available from your company. You can also search candidates in your talent network when there is a position you need to fill.
  • Talent network.
  • Resume database.
  • Job postings.
  • Analyzing desired compensation for positions.
  • Sending the same candidates during a targeted search.
  • Reps offering training.
I would say 6 on recommending CareerBuilder.com to other colleagues only because the price is not as competitive as ZipRecruiter when I feel that they offer the same employment advertising benefits. My company pays about 13,000 per year and we get a set amount of job postings along with one resume seat that is able to search resumes on CareerBuilder.com.

We use CareerBuilder.com to source candidates & for market data. It mostly solves the problem of setting expectations for market compensation info & candidate availability in a given market.
  • Supply & Demand is amazing
  • Candidate search is a good tool
  • CareerBuilder.com doesn't have the same quantity of candidates that it used to
  • Higher-level candidates don't post their resumes on CareerBuilder.com like they did 5 - 10 years ago
CareerBuilder.com does great with its market data tools. It loads quickly now, where a year or 2 ago it was very bulky. I don't think it functions well as its own standalone ATS. Some serious improvement is needed on that side.

Our organization uses CareerBuilder.com to source potential candidates for our clients' open job requisitions. CareerBuilder is one of a handful of resources we currently use for this function. It provides additional candidates and applicants that may not be found on some of the other major job/resume databases. The functionality allows our firm to communicate, create lists folders, and share candidates internally.
  • Advanced keyword and Boolean search options
  • Sourcing and identifying candidates by geographical location
  • Contacting potential candidates directly through the CareerBuilder platform
  • Creating original and generic email and job posting templates
  • Functionality can be more user-friendly for beginners.
  • More options to integrate with other platforms and Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Make it easier to create candidate lists, and send mass emails--while this feature is available, CareerBuilder.com does not make it easy for users to perform these tasks.
  • Add an option for the user to be notified when candidates in saved folders have removed their resume or are no longer available.
CareerBuilder.com is well suited for mid-level and lower-level recruitment. I have noticed that it does not target/attract the C-level or executive-level candidates. Therefore, it is not always resourceful when working on higher-level searches. I have also noticed there are many duplicate resumes that come up on searches, which can create some frustration during the sourcing process.

Our recruiting team used CareerBuilder to post jobs and source candidates. Typically, we used it when hard-to-fill jobs needed candidates and we would search through candidate profiles and reach out to potential hires.
  • Easy to post jobs - Intuitive and painless process.
  • Good dashboard with candidate information provides a great picture of what candidates are applying and helps us shape targeting.
  • Could use more search functionality - Including additional search parameters would help make finding the best candidates easier.
  • Not as many people in candidate pool as other job boards.
CareerBuilder is a decent job board but I would typically suggest it as a backup option to other boards. It holds a decent amount of candidates and has good functionality to shape up your posting and who you are targeting, but lacks in search parameters and this makes it a little less valuable than other tools.
